Full Time Position: Vessel Engineer
42’ Research Vessel – New Construction (scheduled delivery: 20 Oct 2019 - 1 Nov 2019)
A vessel engineer is required as assistant to the captain of a 42-foot aluminum working vessel to support the U.S. Navy’s unmanned underwater systems programs located in San Diego, California. This includes the launch and recovery of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV), underwater gliders, various surface and underwater sensors, remotely operated vehicle (ROV) operations, unmanned surface vehicles (USV), the deployment and recovery of underwater training mines, and surface-supplied and SCUBA diving operations. Operations may include multiple days/nights at sea along the Southern California coast.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in open ocean and near coastal vessel operations.
- Experience with marine diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Technologically and Mechanically adept with the ability to quickly learn and utilize advanced computer instrumentation.
- Eligible for a SECRET U.S. Government security clearance.
