Orca Maritime, Inc. is actively seeking a Senior-Level MIREM Exercise Planner to support the US Navy Mine Warfare Readiness and Effectiveness Measuring (MIREM) at Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) in San Diego, CA.
This position is associated with an upcoming contract that Orca Maritime is pursuing, with an estimated award/work start late 2025. We are conducting preliminary, “contingent” hiring for roles associated with this contract. The work start is dependent upon Orca Maritime being awarded this contract.
Typical Responsibilities:
Participate in planning conferences supporting exercises
Provide assistance with drafting Test Plan/OPORD, Data Collection Plan and Analysis Plan based upon input generated during planning conferences
During exercises, they assist ships’ company in comprehending and executing plans, and by ensuring they collect pertinent data required to support exercise reconstruction and analysis
Communicate exercise results orally and in written formats to representatives of naval commands, engineering labs, and program offices
Familiarity with the design and construction of experiments to assist with the design of events or exercises
Assist in providing insight during ad hoc workshops and conferences
Location: Onsite at Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) in San Diego, CA.
Travel Requirements: Up to 10% travel is anticipated.
Typical Physical Activity: Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. Periodic visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: repetitive motion, traversing shipboard environments (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, hatches), speaking or vision.
Existing Security Clearance Required: This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must already possess an active or interim security clearance. A candidate with especially strong, relevant experience but no active security clearance may still be considered, but work start would be dependent upon a new Secret clearance being awarded.
Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
Eight (8) to ten (10) years of U.S. Naval experience
Four (4) years of experience in planning naval Undersea Warfare (USW) exercises
Excellent analytical problem-solving skills
Capability of preparing reports and correspondence that are technically correct
Proficient with common productivity software, including the Microsoft Office suite
Excellent communication skills
